What’s the ski season?

The ski season is from mid-December to late April and our summer season starts from late June to mid-September.

What are the advantages of Morzine?

Morzine is a beautiful traditional village with an excellent selection of winter sports and an abundance of summer activities. Morzine is part of the huge Portes Du Soleil ski area, one of the best and most varied ski domains in the world and it is situated only 90 minutes from Geneva, making transfer times very bearable.

  • It is the closest alpine ski resort to the UK.
  • It’s the easiest way to reach the Porte du Soleil ski area, with 650km of pistes.
  • Excellent snow record with extensive snow-making facilities.
  • 224 lifts linking 12 French and Swiss resorts all on one lift pass (no passports required).
  • Hands free ski lifts.
  • Suits all levels of skiers.

See skiing in Morzine for more informaton.

What’s the weather like?

From December to January, it is cold with temperatures often below zero, which means perfect conditions for snow. In February and March, the weather is warmer and by the end of the season, you can ski in t-shirts and a light fleece. Whilst in the summer the weather in Morzine is often in the high 20′s in July and August.

However, as with most high altitude destinations, the weather can change quickly, so you should never set off on a hike without spare layers of warm and /or water-proof clothing. However, storms will only normally last just a few hours, giving way to bright cloudless skies again. Although hot during the days, the nights can be a little cooler than on a traditional beach holiday (often a welcome change), so pack a sweater. See our weather section for more information.

How do you get there?

There are several budget and scheduled airlines that have daily flights to Geneva, such as easyJet who fly from many UK airports, British Airways from Heathrow and Gatwick and Jet2 have a service from Leeds / Bradford direct to Geneva. For self-drive Morzine is eight hours’ driving time from Calais. See getting to Morzine for more information.
