Skiing Tips
Paul has the following advice for beginners:
- Take skiing lessons at a dry ski slope. You can learn as much in six hourly lessons there, as you will in six half hour lessons in the snow.
- Hire ski boots before you go skiing because then you can try them and get used to them before you arrive at the ski resort.
- Invest in good quality waterproof clothing which will keep you warm such as gloves and socks - you’ll also need a skiing hat and goggles.
- Take ski lessons at the ski resort. Even if you’re a confident skier, you never stop learning.
- Stay hydrated - because of the altitude and cold you lose a huge amount of water vapour from the body, so you need to drink plenty of water.
- Be cautious - don’t be tempted to ski somewhere beyond your means.
